Shiva Mantras

The Maha Mritunjaya Mantra is as follows:
"Aum Trayambakam Yajaamahey Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam
Urvaarukamiva Bandhanaath Mrutyor Muksheeya Maamritaat"

Lord Shiva is the three eyed god. Shiva is always perfumed. He fosters all the creatures of the Universe. Lord Shiva releases from death for the sake of immortality, as cucumber detaches its bondage of the vine. We worship Lord Shiva to liberate.us.from.death

Sarva Mangal Manglaye Shivay Sarvaarth Sadhike
Sharanye Trayambake Gauri Narayaani Namostu Te

Meaning: Oh thy divine couple Shiva and Parvati ! Oh,thee, the protectors of the universe! Along with Lords Brahma and Vishnu, ee pray to You for our well-being, prosperity and the enlightenment of our souls.

This Shivratri There is a great surprise for all the SHIVA BHAKTS

Gurudev has said that we can get our Shiva lings from home and while Swamiji is doing puja on stage we all can put Bel patra and do aarti to our own Shiva lingam which we have got from home.

So we deciede that we will provied 11 Bel patra leaves and aarti thalis to all those who wish to be a part of this.

Isn't this just great. We too can be a part of the puja with our own Shiva idols.
Just this week was sharing with kashiji that in a few years we will revive this tradition and each and every house will do Rudra puja.

We are connected not only through face book and internet but also through our neurons

Guruji gave a wonderful introduction of how sankalpa works, latest research shows that in our brains there are some neurons which are connected to everyone and some neurons which create a barrier of ego. One of the leading neuroscientists, V S Ramachandran says “We are connected not only through face book and internet but also through our neurons”.

For example if I pick up a glass of ragi ( A health Drink) and you watch me doing that action in both our brains neurons get activated. But some other neurons tell the brain whether I am doing that action or not. Thus even if I do some action it can affect the people whom I am connected this is the basis of how sankalpa works. When I take a sankalpa on someones behalf because our neurons are connected that effect of the sankalpa can reach out and create a positive vibrations. For eg, recently when a person was hospitalised, we performed a puja for him in the ashram , and miraculously the person’s health improved. This is a very common occurrence we have experienced and hence in the puja it is not necessary to be present physically present during the sankalpas.

The other aspect is being present for the puja. When we do it alone it is puja and when we do it together it becomes Yagna. According to the shastras, yagna gives hundred fold result.

For eg. When we keep money in the safe in the house it just stays there, but when we keep in the bank it gives interest.

This year our beloved Guruji H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji celebrates Shivratri in Kolkatta on the 12th February 2010.
